The Darien Park District Garden Club was established in November 2001 to encourage a nurturing environment where new gardeners, experienced gardeners, nature lovers, environmentalists, and anyone interested in horticulture, can meet to share their experiences and get support from those who have similar interests
Its purpose is to encourage an interest in gardening and all its rewards; to increase knowledge, promote respect for the natural environment, offer enlightening ideas for improving the home landscape (as well as improving the view beyond our backyard), and to cultivate friendships with those that share these pursuits.
Benefits of being a Garden Club member include:
* A free subscription to the club's monthly newsletter, which
contains photos, garden club information, and minutes of
the meetings
* Horticultural presentations, both in-house and outside speakers
* Periodic garden-related outings to local public and private
gardens, arboretums and nurseries
* Club-sponsored plant sales and plant swaps
* The chance to improve our community
* Friendship and comaraderie with gardeners who share
your enthusiasm
* Membership in Garden Clubs of Illinois, Inc., and a subscription
to its quarterly newsletter, GardenGlories
* Membership in National Garden Clubs, Inc.
